Cinema Paradiso
Cinema Paradiso has been going for quite a few years now but remains one of the smallest DVD rental companies out there.
They have a good selection of films and specialise in World Cinema. Their plans are reasonably priced although aren’t the cheapest (although they claim that they are on their homepage). They also only offer a 14 day free trial so all in all it’s not quite as appealing as some of the other options out there.

All Cinema Paradiso’s plans are listed above. They claim on their website to be the UK’s cheapest online DVD rental package but Lidl Movies are actually cheaper. Have a look at our homepage to see how they compare to other providers.
Their unlimited plans are very reasonably priced and are just a little cheaper than LOVEFiLM’s.
They are also the only DVD rental provider to offer to roll unused discs over to the next month with their £4.89 plan. We like the concept but £4.89 for two discs per month makes it £2.44 per disc. It would be cheaper to opt for a pay as you go plan from LOVEFiLM where you pay just £2 per disc. That way you know that you’re only paying for films you actually watch.
Choice
Cinema Paradiso has 65,000 titles to pick from. There is certainly a lot of choice when it comes to World Cinema as this is something that Cinema Paradiso specialise in. They offer films from over 40 different countries.
They take pride in their extensive World Cinema catalogue; from Hollywood to Bollywood, Argentina to Vietnam, Tajikistan to Mongolia they’ve got the lot. If you’re interested in World Cinema then they are definitely worth considering.
When it comes to new releases they are less competitive than Blockbuster or LOVEFiLM. This is because their membership base is smaller so they don’t have the same level of buying clout. Having said that they do have a “hot list” that includes lots of new releases.
They also have quite a few Blu-Ray titles to pick from but if you’re interested in just renting Blu-Ray check out LOVEFiLM or Blockbuster as they have lots more.
Service
We’ve tried out Cinema Paradiso and found it to be pretty good. They’re small but do serve their customer base well. They use first class post and their website functions well.
Delivery time
Cinema Paradiso use first class post and will endeavor to send out DVDs within one to two working days.
Website features
The website is quite basic compared to LOVEFiLM’s but does everything you need it to in order to put films on your list. They have also introduced trailers recently.

They have added trailers to quite a few different films. Helpfully they have a play icon on the image so you can see before you click through.
2) Reviews
Cinema Paradiso members can leave reviews and read existing ones. There are quite a few on there which shows that they have a small yet devoted customer base.
