Compare online DVD rental services
To help you make the right choice we've looked at everything
from postage class to the number of rental titles offered. The main difference
is that not all DVD rental companies offer video games or let you watch films online.
Check out the table below to compare services.
All the providers listed above offer DVD rental by post. You sign up online, pick the films you want to watch and they'll be delivered within a couple of days. The number of discs you get depends on the plan you pick. Then, once you've watched them just post them back and you'll get sent some more.
Some rental options include video games rental. Currently, it's only LOVEFiLM and Tesco that offer game rental. The plans that include games rental tend to cost a bit more than the basic DVD rental plans.
The other thing you might want to look out for is the ability to watch films online from your computer. LOVEFiLM offers this via the LOVEFiLM player. So far they are the only provider to offer this service. They currently have over 3,000 tiles available for you to stream online in addition to the DVDs that you'll receive in the post as part of your subscription.
All of the providers use first class postage execpt for Tesco who offer second class postage on their value DVD rental plans. That's how they keep the cost down.
Not all providers offer a free trial. Instead of a free trial, Blockbuster offers two months for the price of one. Or, you can choose to pay £1 for a two week trial. If you're new to DVD rental we recommend that you pick a service with a long free trial. That way, if you change your mind you have plenty of time to return the discs and cancel the service without being charged.
