Tesco DVD and games rental is powered by LOVEFiLM. That means that the service is provided by LOVEFiLM but bought to you through the Tesco website.
You can see the rental plans below. They’re slightly cheaper than LOVEFiLM’s but the value options do use second class post (unlike with LOVEFiLM). The website is also not as advanced as LOVEFiLM’s and you won’t be able to access all of the on-demand online content.

Tesco plans
All Tesco’s plans are listed above. The starter plan at £4.47 is only 52p cheaper than LOVEFiLM and uses second class post.
By taking a Tesco’s plans you’ll save about 50p per month compared to LOVEFiLM. It you’re watching your pennies it could be worth it if you’re interested in the unlimited plans as these use 1st class post.
We wouldn’t recommend the value plans as they’re not that much cheaper but unlike LOVEFiLM’s they use second class post. That means discs will take longer to reach you.
Tesco also offers game rental plans but these are only a few pence cheaper than LOVEFiLMs so we’d recommend going direct to LOVEFiLM if you want games rental.
Choice
You’ll get the same great selection of films, Blu-Rays and games as LOVEFiLM. The only difference is that Tesco don’t offer an adult category.
Service
The actual dispatch and stock control is managed by LOVEFiLM so you should experience a very similar service. We’ve tried out the value packages with Tesco and found them to be slower than LOVEFiLM - we think this is down to the postage being second class rather than a difference with dispatch process though.
All the processes for making a complaint or reporting a lost or stolen disc are the same as LOVEFiLM’s.
The online experience of actually picking a DVD is not as entertaining. The site doesn’t have the same level of movie content as LOVEFiLMs. There are trailers and reviews on there but the site is very functional.
Delivery time
Customers on unlimited services can expect the same delivery time as LOVEFILM. That's pretty quick!
If you pick the limited service it’ll be slower as the DVDs are sent using second class post. From mailing the disc back you can expect to wait about 4 - 5 working days to receive the next one.
Website features
The website is quite basic but has all the key information that you need to be able to select films and add them to your list.
It doesn’t have as many categories or as much content as LOVEFiLM’s site but the selection of films is the same. You just need to search a bit harder to find what you want.
You’ll also find trailers for the latest releases and the reviews are pulled from the LOVEFiLM site. What you won’t find is all the extra content around films news. There also isn’t any of the on-demand content which you’ll find on the LOVEFiLM site.

Trailers are included for major films but the player is a lot more clunky than the one you’ll find on the LOVEFiLM site.
2) Reviews and ratings
The Tesco website only shows a handful of recent reviews. The LOVEFiLM website shows loads of user generated reviews, as well as full reviews from critics.
